A 17-YEAR-OLD has admitted the manslaughter of student Daniel Crowther, who died after a late-night attack in Stokesley.
Thomas Watson, of Woodhouse Road Guisborough, now faces a custodial sentence after he pleaded guilty at Leeds Crown Court to his part in Daniel's death.
The Stokesley School pupil was knocked unconscious after being punched outside a pizza shop in the early hours of Saturday, May 14.
The 17-year-old was airlifted to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough, but was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.
Prosecutor Jonathan Sharp told the court that he believed Daniel had been the victim of an unprovoked attack.
The Recorder of Leeds, Judge Peter Collier QC, remanded Watson in custody and said: “You appreciate that this is obviously a serious matter. It is inevitable that there will be a custodial sentence but, as you know, I need to have a report about you.”
Watson, whose identity could not be revealed before his guilty plea due to his age, is expected to be sentenced next month.
