After a rain-ravaged weekend Boldon emerged on top of the Durham Senior League after managing to pick up a few more draw points than their rivals - but its tighter than ever with Whitburn just a point adrift in second and Kimblesworth menacing in third place, just two further back.
None of yesterday's matches got past the halfway stage, but it will be Durham counting themselves the most unlucky team after bowling Norton out for 92 and then being denied the opportunity to chase down the meagre target.
Norton were cruising along at 57-2 when Subhan Christudhas was introduced to the attack. He bowled six overs and decimated the Teessiders line-up, taking five wickets for 10 runs as the visitors lost their last eight wickets for 35 runs.
Harry Linton (36) and Nicky Thomas (37) were the only ones to put up resistance, but for City there was only a ten-point return as the rains came down.
Neil Mulvaney got back to form for Philadelphia, whacking 10 fours and seven sixes in a rapid 91. And it's just as well he did because Eppleton's Sura Malinga was threatening after blasting out the first three for next to nothing. Malinga ended with 5-43 from his 15 overs, with Phili on 192-6 after 43 overs at the crease.
In the other wash outs two prolific batsmen lost their wickets for the first time in several weeks.
Stuart Walker added 65 to the 300 runs he had scored since the last time he was out as Whitburn reached 167-5 at Boldon, while the shock of the day came at Burnmoor where Jimmy Daley was out for a paltry 38 after four successive centuries - but he did it in the grand manner going for another six hit.
Burnmoor closed on 152-7 against Kimblesworth.
That fourth successive century for Daley was among the highlights of the previous day's programme which was also badly hit by rain. The former Durham batsman smashed 16 fours and four sixes in making an unbeaten 101 at Castle Eden where the Moor took more of the points in a weather affected draw.
Remarkably it took his average over the 200 mark on Saturday night.
Not a single game dodged the bad weather, but there was time for Ben Hall to make a glorious century for Norton in an attractive 233-5 against Felling. John Watson contributed 67 to add to one of the best days of the season for the Teessiders, but Felling's reply was cut short on 93-1 with Danny Clark undefeated on 60.
Durham City needed just 25 more runs with five wickets still standing to beat Horden (124 all out), while Eppleton (48-5) were in trouble against Kimblesworth (175-9) with Stephen Meek (78 and 2-2) on fire for the hosts.
In the 3D Durham Coast League only three of the six games went ahead but Dawdon's was quickly a casualty of the weather.
Most play was possible at Seaham Park where Darren Hickey hit 74 and Mark Lee 65 as Washington reached 200-8. The Park responded with 138-5, Stuart Pattison headlining with 79 as the match ended in stalemate.
This was also the result at Easington where Ryhope's Micky Thorpe (5-36) toiled in vain as the weather won the day. Easington were bowled out for 190 before Ryhope only had time to respond with 40 for three.
In the Wellstream NTSL only one match beat the elements and it gave Sacriston a victory which moved them to within three points of the rain frustrated leaders, Swalwell. Sacriston made 174-9 against Chopwell in a game restricted to 35 overs with Ben Hall (35) and Reece Carr (30) their top scorers. They then pegged their visitors back for 136 with Graham Hubber (3-30) and Ryan Moralee (3-43) on form.
