THE westbound carriageway of the A66 was closed this afternoon to enable a helicopter from the Great North Air Ambulance to land after an accident involving a car.
No details of the injured have been released but emergency services responded to a report of a car overturning shortly after 4.05pm.
The road was closed between the Ingleby Barwick slip road and the Yarm turn off.
Two fire crews from Thornaby and one crew and an emergency tender from Stockton attended. Firefighters assisted ambulance crews at the scene.
