A SLOVENIAN student has proven that beer lovers will go to great lengths for a pint.
Luka Mustafa, 20, hitch-hiked for four days to reach The Black Sheep Brewery, in Masham, North Yorkshire.
He travelled from the largely wineproducing country of Slovenia to England looking for the perfect pint.
He tried a bottle of the company’s extra strong Riggwelter beer in London and was so impressed, he decided to visit the brewery.
He hitched using a sign that politely read: “Ripon. Thank you.
Have a nice day.”
He said: “I found the journey really quite hard, but it was worth it. There is something special here. It is the culture and the beer has got soul.”
Brewery founder Paul Theakston gave Mr Mustafa a free pint for his effort.
Mr Theakston, whose family have brewed in Masham for six generations, said: “We have had visitors coming from all over the world, but I am not sure if we have ever had anybody who has been quite as devoted in his duty as this man.
“Beer does seem to inspire people to do things.”
