POLICE investigating a hit-and-run collision that left an elderly woman seriously injured have released images of two motorcyclists they need to speak to.

The incident, on the B1257 at Chop Gate, near Stokesley, in North Yorkshire, occurred at about 5.20pm on Sunday, May 29, when a 74-year-old woman was hit by a motorbike as she crossed the road.

The bikers stopped a short way up the road and looked back before riding off in the direction of Stokesley.

The images released by North Yorkshire Police were taken by a police patrol car that was travelling on the B1257 at 5.06pm, just before the collision.

Traffic Sergeant Neil Campbell, of the force's roads policing group, said: "I am appealing to both motorcyclists to come forward without further delay as I believe that they may have vital information about the collision.

"I am also asking that anybody, including members of the biking community, who recognises either of them to contact North Yorkshire Police straight away or pass information to Crimestoppers anonymously.

"As well as releasing the images we are also following a number of other lines of enquiry to identify the riders involved in the hit-and-run collision."

The 74-year-old woman who was knocked down and injured in this incident was released from hospital shortly after the incident and is making a good recovery at her home in Warwickshire .
