A WOMAN who died after her car collided with a lorry on a busy North-East road has been named.
Mother-of-two Margaret Clay, of South Hetton, County Durham, was travelling with her 15-year-old daughter Laura in a black Vauxhall Corsa when they were in collision with an articulated HGV and trailer, which was parked in a lay-by.
The accident happened about half a mile from Ron Perry's Garage on the A19 northbound carriage, near Hartlepool on Sunday at 3pm.
Mrs Clay, 42, was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering serious injuries. Laura was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees, in Stockton, for treatment to minor injuries. She was later released.
The 57-year-old driver of the articulated HGV was uninjured.
