A WOMAN from the region has died following a car crash on the M1 in the East Midlands.
Heather Hardcastle, who was 37 and from Acomb, in York, was a passenger in a car which collided with a lorry between junction 25 and 26 of the M1, in Nottinghamshire, at 11.15pm on Thursday.
The male driver of the Audi car is today in critical condition in the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham.
Police want to speak to the drivers of three vehicles who stopped on the hard shoulder to offer assistance.
The lorry driver was not injured in the crash.
