THREE men have been arrested on suspicion of historic offences of kidnapping, indecent assault and rape which occurred in the 1980s and 90s.
The arrests were part of a joint operation between officers from Northumbria Police and Hampshire Police.
"The men remain in police custody," a Northumbria Police spokesman said. "Two arrests were made in the South of England and one in the North of England."
Northumbria Police's DCI Steve Binks who is leading the investigation said: “We have been working together with Hampshire Police on the investigation.
“We have arrested three men in connection to historic sexual offences which occurred in the mid 1980s in Hampshire and historic sexual offences against two young girls from the Newcastle area in 1995.
“Specially trained officers from both forces are working with the victims and their families.”
