NEW overseas players produced immediate individual successes in the Durham Senior League where only two of the 12 clubs remain unbeaten after five games.
Among those who lost for the first time were Philadelphia who had shared the leadership with Boldon but are now down in sixth place after one of the newcomers, former West Indies U19 skipper Adelvin Phillip, made an immediate impact for Horden.
He bagged four wickets and hit a half century in his dramatic debut which saw his new club enjoy a sevenwicket victory. Phillip shared a century stand with Graham Smith who also made a half century.
South Hetton’s new signing, South African Bokang Mosena, made a quickfire unbeaten 68 after taking two wickets against Castle Eden to bring their unbeaten start to the season to an end.
Newly-promoted Kimblesworth also lost for the first time, but it was the familiar face of Stuart Walker at Whitburn who did the damage. He took five wickets and hit 72 not out, the day’s best.
Even though having to settle for a draw against improving Norton, Boldon benefited from the other surprise results of the day to take a five-point lead at the top with Eppleton moving into second place.
Another drawn finish involved Burnmoor where Jimmy Daley added another century to his career record.
