Recently, children from Our Lady & St. Thomas RCVA school in Willington, took part in a ‘planting afternoon’ in the new Community Garden which they have developed over the past year.
They worked in groups with staff and planted a range of vegetables which they had grown themselves from seed. The children helped to dig over the soil in the raised beds, plant the seedlings and water them.
They are currently growing a range of vegetables both indoors and out. The children are looking forward to eating the vegetables for their lunch and hope to sell any spare vegetables which they have grown.
