FIREARMS response teams and police blocked off a Darlington street today after unconfirmed reports of a man seen with a shotgun.
Police were called to Thornton Street, in the North Lodge Park area of Darlington, this lunchtime.
The street was closed for three hours and residents were told to stay indoors while armed police attended the scene.
Police have now said they are treating the matter as a hoax and are making inquiries to find the culprit.
