AS on the first day, Durham took an early wicket against Somerset but were unable to follow it up.
Callum Thorp struck with his second ball yesterday; this time it was his first. Jos Buttler tried a forcing back-foot stroke and edged to Phil Mustard but Nick Compton continued to ride his luck until he ducked into a ball from Graham Onions and was struck on the helmet.
Compton edged the fifth ball of the day from Onions just wide of second slip for two runs to reach 150. In Onions' next over the batsman survived a confident appeal for caught behind and he had moved on to 159 when play was held up for two minutes while the Somerset physio checked him over.
Peter Trego, meanwhile, moved rapidly on to 22, helped on his way by a misfield at mid-off by Ruel Brathwaite.
