I see there’s been a complaint about the new benches that Andrew and Sas have put outside the Middle House and, if Facebook is anything to go by, it’s causing a bit of a furore!
Apparently, someone has complained to the parish council and now the pub has received notification to have them removed.
WHY?
Patty and Sas have done a sterling job since they took over the Middle House and, to my mind, if the Bottom House can have benches, why not the Middle?
The pub is back in the quoits league this season and with teams visiting from all over the region, what sort of message does it put out if people can’t sit outside to watch their team being beaten!!
Last Sunday, we had the first of the quoits knock outs and I for one enjoyed sitting outside with the wife watching the proceedings, as did many others. I know in the past the benches have been a magnet for kids hanging around them BUT, Patty and Sas are running the pub how it should be run and speaking as a man who lives next door (and therefore affected more than most) I have seen no such former behaviour.
S O B [Save Our Benches]
SO, I would implore, any readers of the blog, to either contact a parish councillor or Pauline Charlton (County Councillor 01388 710592) to tell them you want the benches to stay.
I’ll be having a word with Patty and Sas tonight to see if they can arrange a petition to keep them.
