I WOULD like to go on record as thanking The Northern Echo for their continued excellent coverage of the Quakers, especially on Saturdays and Mondays.

This is in stark contrast to two other sources of information that have now relegated Darlington coverage.

A certain North-East Sunday paper has now relegated Darlington’s coverage, due to their nonleague status, to the same level as Blyth Spartans and Gateshead. They all now share a non-league page while Hartlepool and Carlisle are given their own pages most weeks!

This is despite the fact that Darlington’s crowds are still on a par with most lower league division clubs and its progress has a passive readership/interest catchment area of some 150,000 people.

The other culprit is the BBC Look North who now announce the “league results” so that they can ignore Darlington’s coverage as much as possible. This by an organisation whose wages are paid by the good people of the Darlington area, but in return, receive little to no mention of their favoured football team.

Perhaps we can have a licence rebate paid direct to Darlington FC to sign a player for the season?

Keep up the good work.
