RAIL passengers experienced delays this afternoon after a train hit a cow.
The incident happened on the East Coast Main Line near Northallerton, North Yorkshire.
A spokesman for Network Rail said the cow was among a herd that had wandered onto the line through a broken fence.
Trains ran at reduced speeds past the scene while the animals were rounded up by the farmer and rail staff.
