IF you fancy heading out for a walk to get out in the New Year then Stockton Council has the perfect event.
On Saturday, 29 January, you are invited to take part in a nine mile walk along the River Tees in the company of a Tees Ranger to find out all about the flora and fauna in the region.
Those who take part in the event will no doubt work up an appetite and the walk will be followed by a trip on the Teesside Princess for a cruise down the river with a two-course meal included.
What better way to see the River Tees close up, both on foot from the banks and then on the water by the Teesside Princess.
The whole event will take place from 8.15am until 1.45pm and those taking part are asked to meet on Stockton Riverside by the footbridge near the Teesside Princess office in Quayside Road .
Councillor Mary Womphrey, Stockton Council’s Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, said: “The combination of a walk and cruise along the Tees will be a perfect way for people to see just how wonderful the River Tees is.
“Those taking part can learn all about the nature and history of that stretch of the River Tees before tucking into a meal while watching the scenery go by.”
