A MAN who has been on the run from police for more than two months after breaching the terms of his prison release licence has handed himself in.
Christopher Alan Hugill, 26, from Richmond, North Yorkshire, was given a four-year prison sentence in November 2007 at Teesside Crown Court for assault causing actual bodily harm in Richmond.
Following his release last August, Hugill was arrested on October 24 for further violent offences in Richmond.
This breached the terms of his prison release licence.
Police appealed for information on his whereabouts several times, but Hugill was arrested on Monday after he handed himself into police in Spennymoor, County Durham.
He appeared at Northallerton Magistrates’ Court yesterday charged with failing to surrender to police or court custody. He was remanded in custody until January 19.
