LOST dogs could be reunited with their owners more easily thanks to Facebook.
Middlesbrough Council’s Dog Warden service has launched its own Facebook page, believed to be the first of its kind.
As well as re-homing dogs that remain unclaimed, wardens hope to allow people who have lost dogs to upload information and pictures to help with their search.
In the future, dog wardens could be able to upload information from their phones as soon as a dog is picked up.
Councillor Julia Rostron said: “Dogs are a man’s best friend but, unfortunately at this time of year, too many turn out to be surplus to requirements.
“The Facebook page is another innovative idea which will help missing dogs find their way home.”
