FOUR men have been warned they face jail for their parts in a driving test scam in which they paid others to sit their theory exam.

They were arrested last year after an investigation involving the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) and Cleveland Police.

Yesterday, they appeared at Teesside Crown Court and admitted charges of conspiracy to defraud in late 2009.

They are Kayfee Hameed and Sami Hamadok, both from Middlesbrough, Agar Hamid, from Leeds, and Ahmed Omar, from Bristol.

Their case was adjourned to next month so background reports can be prepared by the Probation Service.

Andy Rice, head of DSA’s fraud and integrity team, said: “Driving test impersonation is a serious offence which puts law-abiding roadusers at risk. We investigate all suspected incidents and work closely with the police to make sure that those responsible are brought to justice.”

Hameed, 35, of Meath Street, Middlesbrough, admitted conspiracy to commit fraud by false representation on November 14.

Hamadok, 36, of Percy Street, Middlesbrough, admitted an identical charge between September 1 and 22.

The charge faced by Hamid, 20, of Spalding Towers, Leeds, relates to November 11 and that of Omar, 30, of Eaton Close, Bristol, relates to October 24.
