COUNCILS across Teesside are reassuring people that everything is being done to tackle the backlog of rubbish.
The heavy snow fall in early December, coupled with the Christmas and New Year period, left some people saying their rubbish had not been collected for up to four weeks.
Some of the worst affected areas included villages in east Cleveland and Bankfields Road area of Eston, near Middlesbrough, all served by Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council.
A council spokesman said: “We have been able to use our resources to the best possible effect.”
He said the authority was urgently catching up after the Christmas holidays and collections would return to normal on Tuesday, but said the council was aware of some areas where bins had not been collected for a month.
Middlesbrough Council faced similar problems, but not to the extent endured by its neighbouring council.
A spokesman said staff had worked tirelessly to ensure there was no significant build up of rubbish across the town.
And Stockton Borough Council confirmed its collection team has been able to carry out all of its scheduled collections despite the weather.
