Police have named the driver of a Peugeot 306 who died in a collision with an HGV on the A66 at Gilling West on Monday.
Daniel Green, 20, from Gilling West, suffered serious injuries in the incident and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The collision, involving a green Peugeot 306, travelling on the westbound carriageway, and an HGV, occurred at the junction with Gilling Bank - known locally as the Melsonby crossroads, at around 5.15pm on Monday, January 3.
The road was closed until around 1am the following day as police conducted their investigations into the incident.
Traffic Constable Tony Leonard, of Richmond Road Policing Group, said: "I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision to contact the police with any information that could help the investigation.
"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the collision and any information could be vital to our enquiries."

The inquest into Mr Green's death was opened and adjourned this morning.
