A MAN has died after his car was involved in a collision with a lorry at a busy junction.
The collision occurred on the west bound carriageway of the A66, at Gilling West, near Scotch Corner, North Yorkshire.
A green Peugeot 306 and a HGV collided at the junction with Gilling Bank, known locally as the Melsonby crossroads, at about 5.15pm yesterday.
The driver of the Peugeot, a local man, aged 20, suffered serious injuries in the incident and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The road was closed until about 1am this morning as police conducted their investigations into the incident.
Traffic Constable Tony Leonard, of Richmond Road Policing Group, said: "I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision to contact the police with any information that could help the investigation.
"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the collision and any information could be vital to our enquiries."
