A TOWN crier will appear on television game show The Weakest Link tonight.
Peter Stemmer, of Parkside, Darlington, will face host Anne Robinson on the BBC show in an episode featuring people who are “loud for a living”.
The episode will be screened at 6.15pm on BBC2.
Mr Stemmer, who runs Mowden Park Post Office, in Darlington, would not divulge the result when asked last night, although he did say he was forced to defend Darlington when under attack from Robinson. He said: “I didn’t lie back and take it.”
Mr Stemmer is up against a coxswain, a soprano, a laughter therapist and a cheerleader, among others.
Mr Stemmer, who went to Glasgow for filming, said: “It was fantastic. The BBC really look after you and treated you like you were a bit special. Anne Robinson is in character from start to finish, on camera and off, always moaning and whingeing.”
