A FATHER and son will go on trial at the end of January accused of trying to shoot dead a man near his home.
Angus Fitzgerald, 47, and Carl Fitzgerald, 25, denied the charge when they appeared at Teesside Crown Court. They are alleged to have tried to kill Ronald Thexton, 26, in Bishop Auckland on July 30.
Carl Fitzgerald, from Weardale Drive, Bishop Auckland, and his father, from Sycamore Grove, Willington, deny attempted murder and wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. Carl Fitzgerald also denies possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life, and possessing a firearm when prohibited.
Angus Fitzgerald has been bailed, while Carl Fizgerald was remanded in custody.
