A TEENAGER was taken hospital with suspected back injuries after a stock car racing accident.
The ambulance crew alerted the fire brigade to the Barford Raceway, near Barnard Castle, County Durham when the unnamed 14-year-old girl complained of back pain after the accident, which occurred at about 4.30pm today.
An appliance from Barnard Castle and the special rescue unit from Bishop Auckland attended the scene, where fire fighters used hydraulic cutters to take the roof off the vehicle and free the teenager, who was trapped in the car.
She was removed from the vehicle in the sitting position and placed on a long board before taken by ambulance to Darlington Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The rescue took about forty minutes.
