PAUL Gascoigne has been arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs, it has been reported.
The former footballer is understood to have been arrested at an address in Burradon, Killingworth, North Tyneside, yesterday afternoon.
Northumbria Police confirmed a 43-year-old man had been arrested for possession of a class A drug while another man of the same age was arrested for supplying drugs.
A spokesman said police could not confirm the identity of the men, but it is believed Gascoigne is the man arrested on suspicion of drug possession.
He remains in police custody this morning.
A Northumbria police spokesman said: "Shortly after 5.30pm Thursday, October 21 police attended a property in North Tyneside.
"A 43-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a class A drug.
"A second man, a 43-year-old, was later arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of drugs.
"Both men are still in custody and enquiries are ongoing."
Earlier this week Gascoigne was warned by a district Judge at Newcastle Magistrates Court he could face jail for drink driving.
He admitted getting behind the wheel while more than four times the legal alcohol limit.
