AN internationally-acclaimed opera singer is returning home from her Australian base to perform A Night at The Opera.
Guisborough-born Sarah Sweeting is leaving her role as principal mezzo-soprano at the Sydney Opera House to sing in east Cleveland.
While in the region, she will join her singing friends, Bill Greenwood and Alan Phelps, as well as the Renaissance Singers, for two performances.
Concert organiser Peter Sotheran said: “Sarah has a huge number of friends and fans in east Cleveland, but we were quite staggered at the demand for tickets.”
The concerts, on Tuesday and Wednesday, November 30 and 31, are being held in the newly-opened St Paulinus’ RC Church, in the Avenue, Guisborough.
Parish priest Father Michael Bayldon said: “We are really thrilled to be involved in such a prestigious event.”
Tickets, priced £10, are available with a credit card from 01642-477200 and 01287- 634888 or can be collected from GBiz IT Computer Shop, in Marske, and from Pianotique, in Guisborough.
