POLICE are investigating the sudden death of a young woman in Middleham, North Yorkshire.
Police and paramedics were called to the town at 10.25pm.
A spokeswoman for North Yorkshire Police said: "Police are currently at the scene of a sudden death of a 26-year-old woman in Middleham."
One resident told The Northern Echo: "We have been told to stay in our houses. There are police all over and they have cordoned the area off."
More details about the incident are expected to be released this morning.
