A TEENAGE boy suffered a serious head injury after being attacked by a man in the early hours of this morning.
The 14-year-old victim was with a 16-year-old friend in Newcastle city centre at 1.45am when the incident took place.
They were chased by the man from outside Dixy Chicken takeaway on Westmoreland Road.
He pushed the 14-year-old against a wall on Clayton Street West, just along from the Eclipse bar.
The teenager suffered a serious head injury and was taken to Newcastle General Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment today.
His attacker was a white man, around 5ft 8ins tall with a stocky build. He was wearing a white T-shirt.
