RUNNERS are under starters orders for a road race.
People of all ages and abilities can take part in the Middlesbrough Healthy Town 5km Race, which attracted more than 1,000 competitors last year.
The event, on Sunday May 16, will take in the town’s landmarks including the Transporter Bridge and Riverside Stadium.
BBC Radio Tees presenter Diane Youdale, who played Jet on TV show Gladiator, will lead the warm-up on the day of the race.
Middlesbrough councillor Brenda Thompson said the entries were pouring in, and added: “These road races are really capturing the imagination of runners and walkers, athletes and charity fundraisers.
“Those taking part next Sunday are promised some great views and terrific support as they make their way around the course.”
Entry is £12, and £10 for club runners, at run middlesbrough.com
