THREE North-East golfers claimed top 12 places in the EWGA North regional medal final this week.

Bedale's Terri Williamson ended tied for second at Crompton & Royton, finishing seven shots shy of winner Neeve Fisher (Hebden Bridge) after posting a 72.

Seaton Carew's Barbara Conley was two shots further further back on 74, while City of Newcastle's Carol Graham (City of Newcastle) posted a 75.

Fisher left the rest trailing when she scored net 65 in Lancashire. The competition series is run in association with Volvo.

Neeve, 14, from Yorkshire, leads ten qualifiers for the EWGA Grand Medal Final which will take place at The Worcestershire Golf Club on June 26.

She finished seven shots ahead of her closest rival and said: “It was a special score, it’s probably my best-ever round.”

This was one of six regional medal finals which are contested by players who each returned the four best medal scores at their club during 2009.

Qualifiers: Par 72 CSS 74 .

Kate Rhodes (Kirkby Lonsdale) and Deborah Seeney (Denton) also both scored net 75 but failed to qualify on countback.
