A 29-year-old man from the Wingate area of County Durham was killed after an accident involving a heavy goods vehicle.
The pedestrian died following an incident just after 8pm last night on the A19 at High Stotford, near Elwick north of Billingham.
The driver of the heavy goods vehicle did not suffer serious injuries.
The identity of the victim has not yet been revealed by Cleveland Police.
