THe national media website Holdthefrontpage has picked up on yesterday's blog about the local Labour Party using a Northern Echo front page without permission as part of its election campaign.

To be fair to Darlington Labour candidate Jenny Chapman, she was big enough to leave a comment, apologising, at the bottom of the blog.

My thoughts are now turning to tomorrow's front page. What will the headline be tomorrow morning? I haven't got a clue.

I suspect the result will still be hanging in the balance as we go to press at 3am. It's going to be the trickiest headline to write since the elected Mayor vote in Hartlepool went to a recount in the early hours of the morning.

With the result still not certain I took a big chance by letting the presses roll with the headline: "Monkey is Mayor."

Thank goodness the result was confirmed - H'Angus got the job - and the front page didn't go down as the biggest inaccuracy in Northern Echo history.
