THE skyline in a North-East town was transformed at the weekend as part of a festival to celebrate the first anniversary of its newest landmark.

After dark over the bank holiday weekend, the award-winning Infinity Bridge, which was opened in Stockton a year ago, was transformed by spectacular lighting effects.

Subtle changes of colour swept across the structure, with ripples of colour along the deck, as part of the Infinity Festival.

On Sunday night, local schools and community groups took part in a lantern parade along the banks of the Tees using lanterns handmade from willow, tissue and glue.

The parade wound its way from the Princess of Wales Bridge to the Infinity Bridge, with bursts of light illuminating the night sky as the parade approached and crossed the bridge.

Organised by Stockton Borough Council, the project was undertaken by Hi-Lights, a North-East company experienced in illuminating the landscape. Hi-Lights worked on Lumiere, Durham City’s four-day light festival, in November last year.
