THE Victorian heritage of a seaside town was celebrated at the weekend with an exhibition of authentic costumes and pictures.
Saltburn Victorian Society held the display at the town's Methodist church hall, to mark the 20th anniversary of the group being formed.
Founder and president of the society, Geraldine Jordan, said that despite Saltburn no longer having a Victorian and heritage week, the group was still very much alive.
Members wearing authentic dress regularly visit schools and organisations to talk about the history of the seaside resort, and they take every opportunity to get their Victorian attire out of the wardrobe.
"The exhibition was to commemorate 20 years since I formed the society," said Mrs Jordan.
"We wanted to let people know what we have done through the 20 years, and that it's still quite high-profile and not diminishing with the demise of the Victorian and heritage week.
"It was a wonderful exhibition. We had so many lovely Victorian costumes on display that had belonged to ourselves and our family members, along with lots of photographs."
