THE World Cup came to the Teesdale village of Mickleton at the weekend - a version of it at least.
The trophy, which the England football team will compete to win this summer in Germany, appeared as one of the many fancy dress costumes worn by villagers at the annual carnival.
The carnival, which took place on Saturday, included a traditional fancy dress procession which also included a jockey, a knight and a variety of other costumes.
Also on offer were a variety of stalls and a tin pan alley.
There were a number of events for children, and the Teesdale Flyball Club, which recently qualified for Crufts, put on a dog display.
