A FAMILY from Darlington who became members of the Friends of the Bowes Museum, in Barnard Castle, picked up some unexpected gifts earlier this week.
Gary and Debbie Simmons, together with sons Theo, 12, and Ellis, six, became the 2,000th members when the boys' godparents bought them a family membership pass.
To mark the occasion, the family visited The Bowes Museum on Tuesday, where they were presented with flowers, wine, fudge, pens and pencils by Carol Lynn, secretary of the friends.
Mrs Simmons said: "We were delighted to learn that we have the 2,000th membership of the friends.
"We will definitely come here more often now, especially as there are always new exhibitions and attractions."
