Newton Aycliffe Cricket Club: NEWTON Aycliffe second team created a new club record when they bowled out Coxhoe for just 17 runs in the third division of the Roseberry North East Durham League.
Tony Travis finished with career best figures of six wickets for just nine runs and Alan Mitchie took three for eight as the home side were dismissed after just 17.5 overs. Aycliffe lost four wickets, reaching their winning target of 18 after 10.4 overs.
Newton Aycliffe first team hosted division one champions East Rainton and went down by six wickets. Aycliffe totalled just 125 for nine in their 45 overs with Carl Little top scoring with an impressive 38 and Mattie Wheeler hitting 20.
In reply the visitors eased home in the 38th over despite Mattie Wheeler and Sean Rooke taking two wickets each.
The clubs Under-13s team lost heavily at Darlington, but credit must go to debutant Michael Howe, who took two wickets, Adam Randall, who top scored with the bat and Jamie McLean for an excellent display behind the stumps.
Aycliffe's Under-11s team lost at Seaton Carew, despite good performances with the bat from joint top scorers Craig Robertson and Daniel Weldon and two wickets from Simon Howe.
Readers Durham County League Under-18s RYAN Nicholson and James Alderson both scored half centuries leading Evenwood to 137 for four, but with Esh Winning on 33 for one the game had to be abandoned in the seventh over.
Nicholson had one six, a five and three boundaries in 58 while Alderson struck a couple of sixes and found the boundary line on another seven occasions contributing 51. Stuart Hall was unbeaten on 20 for Esh.
Brandon defeated Hylton by eight wickets. Replying to a total of 73 for six, which included 24 not out by Stokoe. Brandon were indebted to man of the match Stephen Wallace who had three boundaries in 25. Ian Musgrave gave support with 20 and Jamie Robinson was unbeaten on 18 with three fours. Stokoe was also Hylton's best performer with the ball taking both wickets for 18 runs in three overs.
In the Brandon attack Wallace had two for 17 and Robinson two for 14.
Bishop Auckland enjoyed a nine wickets victory over Shildon at Kingsway.
Craig George took two for 13 and Ian Grainger two for 16 restricting Shildon to 56 for seven. Matthew Cowling then struck three boundaries in an unbeaten 26 and Scott Oldfield was undefeated on 19 as the pair put together an unbroken partnership for the second wicket.
Mainsforth managed only 27 for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs and went down by eight wickets to Willington for whom Hopper captured three wickets for four runs in five overs. Simpson then scored 21 of the 28 runs scored by Willington.
Langbaurgh League MALTBY enjoyed a narrow two points lead at the top of Division One following their six wickets victory over Scruton.
Plews scored almost half the Scruton total contributing 63 to 128 for five before Maltby won losing four wickets. Their opener Close batted throughout for an unbeaten 59.
Stafford Place are now second after their home game with Kildale had to be called off but the other two fixtures in the division went ahead.
Kirby Sigston had 99 runs in hand at Crathorne where they totalled 197 for four. Opener Thompson batted throughout for a fine undefeated 121 and his opening partner Harker scored 38.
Crathorne were sent back for 98 with Kendrew taking four for 15 and Nicholson four for 36.
East Harlsey had just nine runs in hand of Broughton and Kirby. Batting first, the home team reached 152 for six with Willey making a top scoring 93.
In reply, Broughton went close before ending on 142 for seven which included 70 by opener Smith Senior.
In Division Two Skelton Castle are second following a ten wickets victory over Swainby who fielded a very young side and were all out in 32 overs for just 35.
The experienced Geoff Stainthorpe captured six wickets for just four runs in 12 overs, eight of which were maidens before Simon Wrigley made an unbeaten 22 in the Skelton Castle reply of 38 without loss which came from eight overs.
Thimbleby lead the table after defeating Chopgate by five wickets. Their target was only 66 and Barningham opened with 36. Despite Stockton taking three for 23, Thimbleby won comfortably.
When Chopgate batted first they were dismissed for 65 as Thompson claimed seven wickets for a mere 26 runs and Lee had three for 37.
Ingleby Greenhow defeated Hutton Rudby by nine wickets. Michael Fawcett batted throughout for an unbeaten 35 and was partnered in the unbroken second wicket partnership by his brother David who added 23 not out.
When they batted first Hutton Rudby made just 68 with Crossley taking five for 16 and Birdsill three for ten. Michael Fawcett was also in form with the ball capturing two wickets for just 18 runs.
Moorsholm made 140 for five before Maltby replied with 49 for nine and the match was drawn. Bangay almost won the game for Moorsholm but despite taking six wickets for a meagre 14 runs the visitors held on.
Runs were more plentiful when the home side batted first and ended on 114 for five which included a fine unbeaten 61 by Keith Harding.
Roseberry Group North East Durham League NEWTON Hall enjoy a narrow lead at the top of Division One following a comfortable victory at Medomsley.
Kerr top scored with 51 when the Hall made a respectable total of 170 for nine despite Shaw and Green both taking two wickets at economical cost for Medomsley.
In reply, the home side were dismissed for 89 with Dargue and Harwood both claiming four wickets.
East Rainton are second, just a point off the top. They won by six wickets at Newton Aycliffe who made 125 for nine including 38 by Little. Neil Matthews then made East Rainton's victory batting throughout for an unbeaten 64.
Burnhope were dismissed for 107 in 38 overs by Simonside for whom Paul Thompson returned four for 22 in 9.5 overs, four of which were maidens.
Neil Bunker struck five boundaries in an undefeated 45 leading Simonside to victory in 33 overs.
Littletown managed just 64 all out and almost half the runs came from opener Nixon with 31.
Timms had figures of five for 20 and Murray four for 18 and at the halfway stage Coundon looked the winners but they collapsed to 54 all out as Hurst took six for 29 and Chapple three for four.
Runs were also scarce at Kelloe who were sent back for 86 as Sowden claimed four for 18 and Fraser three for six. Whiteleas lost six wickets before securing victory and they were indebted to Baxter for his timely innings of 39. Pratt had a good day with the ball for Kelloe capturing four wickets for a mere ten runs.
Phil O'Ware (40) and Bilton with 38 top performed as Wearmouth realised 147 for eight at Hunwick who were 134 all out. Duncan Forrest introduced as third change in the Wearmouth attack, was their match winner with the excellent analysis of five for 23. Keegans top scored with 30 for Hunwick.
Wearmouth lead Division Two and they made it four wins out of five defeating Hunwick by eight wickets. Murphy Senior (5-31) and Murphy Junior (4-30) sent Hunwick back to the pavilion for just 76 and Paul Lewis then scored an unbeaten 48 in the visitors' reply.
Wilson opened with 43 when Kibblesworth ended on 23 for six. Replying, Tantobie won with their last pair at the wicket and they were indebted to Baker for his 31 and to Harvey who added 34. Dent was the most productive bowler in the visitor's attack ending with four for 45.
Coxhoe had 24 runs in hand at East Rainton who were all out for 106 as Smithson, Hill and Alcott all took three wickets.
When they batted first, Coxhoe realised 130 despite Derek Steinberg having four for 25 and Davison five for 21. Most of the Coxhoe total came from a second wicket partnership between Smithson (40) and Alcott with 63.
Bearpark had just one run to spare following a low scoring game at Newton Hall. Batting first, the visitors managed only 68 with Marshall scoring 33, for the Hall Bewley had five for 12.
When they went into bat, Newton Hall were restricted to 67, which included 32 not out by Mark Fletcher who went in at number four. Willis had identical figures to Bewley (5-12) and ended on the winning side.
One fixture in the two divisions was called off. No play was possible between North Bitchburn and Belmont because the ground was unfit.
