Twelve months after clinching the Durham County Championship on home soil, Michael Curry has done it again - but on away soil.
The Brancepeth Castle golfer coasted to a seven shot victory over Durham City's Graham Marchbank at a windswept Hartlepool Golf Club to prove he is just as good away from home.
Last year he secured his first County Championship win by the same amount of strokes but that was on the course he works as a greenkeeper and plays on - Brancepeth.
So this time around, on the challenging Hartlepool links course, Curry proved last year's triumph was no fluke.
"I know people think it's easy to win on your own track so I'm pleased to have come here to a pretty tough course and win the title again, " said the 24-year-old.
"I did feel I had something of a point to prove after winning last year on my home course."
Meanwhile, Blackwell Grange's Ellie Givens has been named in the England team for the European Girls Team Championships at Esjberg, Denmark, on July 1115. Consett's Anna Scott will be in the junior team competing at Holland's Ultrechtse De Pann Golf Club.
