YOUNG musicians are to blow, strum, bang and bow their instruments for 24 hours to raise funds for a foreign tour.
Northallerton College's Concert and Dixie bands will embark on a two-week US tour next March.
They will perform in San Francisco, Yosemite Valley, Hemet and Los Angeles -strengthening already close links with schools and colleges in California.
Over the past ten years, more than 200 students have enjoyed touring the US with college bands.
Head of music Garry Firth has developed links with a region where he was once a student.
The Hemet High School Jazz Band, from southern California, visited North Yorkshire in 2004.
To help raise funds towards the cost of the trip, students will stage a 24-hour musical marathon from 8am on July 8.
Mr Firth said: "It is a fantastic opportunity for the students.
"California is an amazing state with breathtaking scenery and exciting places to visit.
"The trip cannot fail to broaden the students' musical and personal horizons.
