MUSICIANS at Northallerton College can be forgiven for blowing their own trumpets - after winning through to the final of a festival.
The college jazz band will compete for glory in the National Festival, which will be held in Birmingham on July 14.
It is the eighth time Northallerton College musicians have managed to reach the finale of the National Festival that attracts more than 30,000 musicians each year from around the country.
The 16-member band is practising a repertoire that includes arrangements by Sammy Nestico, Duke Ellington and Cole Porter.
Head of music Garry Firth said: "The standard of bands in the final will be very high indeed and it will be a great experience for the students just taking part. The students love it.
"The fact that Northallerton College musicians have been selected for the final so many times is down to the students' hard work and dedicated practice."
