SHOPPERS were treated to a travel awareness roadshow complete with puppets and a modified car.
The car, which contains a laptop computer, a television and a number of moving dummies, was outside Northallerton Town Hall on Saturday.
It aims to make people think about how they travel and has been touring primary schools around the county.
The vehicle was made by artist Johnny White and was funded through a £20,000 grant from the Arts Council.
The puppets in the car have thought bubbles that promote the health benefits of walking, rather than going by car.
Pupils have been working with puppeteer Vivien Mousdell to personalise the car. The project is being run by the county council's TravelWise team.
