THE transformation of a disused allotment site into an attractive community garden has taken another artistic turn.
Seats and tables, designed by students at Grangefield School, in Stockton, have been installed at the site in the town's Oxbridge Lane.
Three artists, Derek Mosey, from Liverton Mines, James Godbold, from Egton, near Whitby, and Arts (UK), based in Newcastle, were commissioned to translate the designs into ten eye-catching pieces, all with the central theme of wildlife.
Wooden tables, representing leaves and mushrooms, steel benches with floral designs, and seats with butterfly wings made from mosaic are among the pieces on show.
Councillor Steve Nelson, Stockton Borough Council cabinet member for the environment, said: "The installation of these tables and chairs demonstrates how the council is committed to developing and harnessing the creativity of local residents.
"By using artists based in the North-East, the site has a unique character."
The seats and tables complement the recent installation of a steel tree, that was designed by children from Oxbridge Primary School.
