Newcastle United football star Kieron Dyer has been arrested for allegedly exposing himself at a hotel while drinking with pals.

Dyer, 27, who this week celebrated the birth of his son, attended a police station in Norfolk yesterday accompanied by his solicitor.

He has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Dyer, who has tried hard to shed his bad boy image off the field, was at the Swallow Nelson Hotel in Norwich when the alleged incident took place several weeks ago.

He is thought to have been with a group of people including Titus Bramble's brother, Tesfaye.

The complaint was made by a female member of staff at the hotel.

The woman has told police that Dyer exposed himself to her but he has denied that claim.

A Norfolk Police spokesman said: "A 27-year-old man was arrested yesterday morning on suspicion of indecent exposure and was released on police bail pending further enquiries.

"The arrest relates to an incident in Norwich on April 30."

Dyer will report back to the police station next month.

A Swallow Nelson Hotel spokesman declined to comment on the matter.

Dyer has rarely been out of the headlines since he moved to Newcastle for £6m in 1999.

Two-and-a-half years ago he was wrongly accused of involvement in what turned out to be a false allegation of rape.

In 2003, he was stopped on a road in County Durham after police clocked his £70,000 Mercedes travelling at 63mph in a 50mph zone.

Two years earlier he was banned from driving for two months after admitting driving at more than 100mph.

In the same year, Dyer was dismissed from Newcastle's training camp in Marbella along with three team-mates and fined two weeks wages after they missed a dinner held in honour of club president Sir John Hall, having gone drinking in town.

A spokeswoman for Newcastle United said: "We have spoken to Kieron Dyer's agent and he said that the story is not true.

"The matter has now been passed on to his solicitors."
