STOCKTON Motor Club's Mike Smailes had another good result on Sunday's Ilkley Jubilee Rally, finishing 11th overall and sixth in class, in his fourth event of the year.
The 150-mile rally took the 65-car field around some of Yorkshire's quieter lanes on a day when the weather changed from bright sunshine to snow and hail and back again within minutes.
The event was a round of the British Historic championship and attracted crews from all corners of the country.
This year's winners in a 1965 Porsche 911 had travelled from Oxfordshire to win by just three seconds from last year's victors in a Ford Escort RS 2000.
Another Stockton stalwart, Dave Halliday, was one of the many marshals, without whom the event wouldn't run.
It was a disappointing rally for the only other local crew. Paddy Jones and Tony Longstaff had to retire their Cortina GT at the lunch halt with mechanical maladies.
