TWO women from Spennymoor have taken part in a moonlit marathon to raise money for breast cancer research.
Sue Mitchell, a teaching assistant from St Charles RC Primary School, in Tudhoe, and Elaine Long, chairwoman of the school's Friends committee, recently took part in the Playtex Moonwalk.
The pair joined 15,000 other walkers dressed in decorated bras in London's Hyde Park for the event.
"We walked the full marathon, which is 26 miles, setting off at 11.35pm and finishing at eight in the morning," said Mrs Long.
"We decided to do it because we have both had friends and relatives who have been effected by breast cancer. Some have been successfully treated and others have died.
"We felt it was a worthwhile cause to bring to everyone's attention."
The pair expect to raise £500 in sponsorship.
