A COMMUNITY centre will have a champion boxer in its corner when it holds a fun day.
Hartlepool fighter Michael Hunter is a guest at the event at the town's Brougham Centre this Saturday, from 1pm to 3pm.
Organisers hope that the appearance by Hunter, the EBU super-bantamweight title holder, will encourage people to see what sporting opportunities the centre offers.
The centre, which is attached to Brougham Primary School, was built with funding from Sport England and provides activities such as a playgroup, baby massage, creche, courses for adults and an after-school club.
It also boasts a sports hall which clubs can hire and a smaller hall which is ideal for aerobics, dancing and children's parties.
Young people aged 13 to 19 can also work towards coaching awards.
Michelle Morton, of the centre, said: "Everyone is thrilled that Michael Hunter will be coming along.
"His boxing achievements are an inspiration to others, and hopefully his appearance will encourage lots of people to attend.
