A SECURITY camera could be installed in one of Darlington's parks, if councillors approve funding.
The proposal for a camera in Lascelles Park comes after residents expressed concerns about their safety, and several reports of anti-social behaviour in the area.
Discussions between council wardens and members of the local community suggested a closed-circuit television camera could help tackle the problem.
It is hoped the camera, which would cost £30,000, will protect the play area and make residents feel safer when they are in the park.
The Lascelles Residents' Association has been consulted about the plans and, if the scheme is approved, they will be asked for their views on where the camera should be positioned.
If funding is approved, the camera will cover the park, St John's Primary School and surrounding streets.
The borough council's cabinet will meet on Tuesday, June 6, to discuss the proposal. They have been recommended to approve funding.
