AN MP will be rolling up his sleeves to encourage people to volunteer in the community.
Carers Week launches next month, from June 12 to June 18, to highlight the contribution made by the UK's six million carers.
Hartlepool Carers will be holding a series of events, with MP Iain Wright volunteering to look after others on Friday, June 16.
Other highlights include two sponsored walks, an art auction, therapy sessions and a celebration party.
Manager Mary Diver said: "This year, we want to highlight the health issues associated with caring and are campaigning for annual health check for all carers.
"This week is a celebration but it will highlight some very important issues."
On Saturday, June 11, there will be a sponsored four-mile walk at Summerhill.
On Friday, June 16, there will be a sponsored walk from the Marina, via Seaton to the Belle Vue Centre at 10am.
