A WOMAN celebrated her 100th birthday on the same day her only daughter marked turning 81.
While celebrating her century milestone yesterday, Hilda Fowler shared some of the limelight with daughter, Eileen Bussey, who was born on the same date as her mother.
The arrival of a card from the Queen, along with bouquets from family and friends, marked the start of the great day for Mrs Fowler, who is a resident of Brandon Lodge Nursing Home, near Durham.
And for once the former professional cook, who did not retire until she was in her late 70s, was happy to sit back and let everyone else do the work.
Born in Staindrop, Mrs Fowler, moved to Bearpark after she married.
She moved into Brandon Lodge nine years ago.
Mrs Fowler has one granddaughter, one great granddaughter and two great great-great grandsons.
Administrator Ann Terry said: "She is a lovely lady and we are delighted she has reached 100, it is a great achievement."
